Cult Clothing
In previous years at TED conferences we have received some nice shirts from an Australian company called Remo. This is a company I think I may have vaguely heard about in the past, but never really knew anything about. At TED07, instead of a shirt we received a coupon to go onto their website to order the shirt of our choice (a much better option since we get to pick the color and the size).
This is a company that understands the marketing power of the web (to say nothing of the fact that they seem to really get what it takes to be passionate about what you sell). Their website offers an online shopping experience that goes way beyond the traditional. They have created a customer network (which at first I didn't like from a privacy standpoint, but the more I played around on it, the more interesting I found it to be). Customers load up their pictures, their stories, product reviews and they even have a customer blog. Customers sponsor other customers, and the entire site turns into one big Remo Lovefest or Cult of Remo. It is nice to see what can happen when someone really harnesses the marketing power of the web.
